In recent years, DuckVision and related services have gained attention (and controversy) as platforms that offer live sports streaming via apps, websites, and intermediary services. While some users search for “duckvision.net” looking for access to live matches, the platform’s legal status and functionality have been subject to intervention from rights holders. In early 2025, Spain’s major football league, LaLiga, successfully shut down the platform.

This article examines what DuckVision was, how it operated, how it was shut down, and what implications this has for users and content rights.

What Was DuckVision.net?

“DuckVision.net” functioned as the web front (or directory) for a streaming platform that provided access to various live sports broadcasts—often via an Android app or links to streams. The website would often direct users to download the DuckVision app or to use protocols like IPTV or Ace Stream to get live content.

The platform reportedly supported content from major sports leagues, bundling multiple matches and streams in a single place.

Because the content was not officially licensed in many cases, DuckVision was considered a piracy service by rights-holding organizations.

How It Operated

Here is a rough outline of how DuckVision/net and related apps seemed to function:

  1. Web landing page / directory
The website (e.g. duckvision.net) would list links or prompts to download the DuckVision app or access streams.

  2. Android APK / apps
Users were directed to install an Android APK version (i.e. outside official app stores) to access live streams. Several sites host versions (e.g. DuckVision 2.3, etc.).Streaming via IPTV or Ace Stream
The app or links inside it would often use IPTV protocols or Ace Stream to stream content in real time. Hide behind network services / Cloudflare
To avoid shutdowns, DuckVision used Cloudflare services and dynamic infrastructure.

  3. Promotion via social channels / Telegram
The platform was promoted through Telegram channels (some tens of thousands of users) and possibly other social media.User base and reach
In Spain alone, DuckVision reportedly had over 200,000 active users before being shut down.

The Shutdown by LaLiga

In February 2025, LaLiga (the organizing body for top-tier Spanish football) announced the shutdown of DuckVision.

Key points regarding the shutdown:

  • LaLiga asserted that DuckVision was providing illegal access to live sports content, including Spanish league games and other international broadcasts.

  • The platform had more than 200,000 users in Spain as of January 2025.

  • DuckVision’s infrastructure was partly shielded via Cloudflare (a content delivery / protection provider), which complicated enforcement.

  • The takedown was publicly timed before a major “derby” match, possibly to prevent further illegal viewing during a high-demand game.

  • LaLiga intends to use gathered evidence to pursue legal action against DuckVision’s promoters and developers.
